Individual Therapy
Understanding yourself in the context of your life.
One-to-one psychotherapy in Ottawa and online across Ontario.
Sometimes there is a clear reason for seeking therapy. At other times, it begins with a less distinct feeling: that life has become difficult, that a relationship keeps hurting, or that you have lost touch with something in yourself.
Individual therapy offers time to explore those experiences with someone who will listen carefully and think with you.
Beginning with what matters to you.
Thoughts and emotions
We can attend to worry, low mood or self-criticism, and to feelings that are difficult to understand or put into words.
Identity and relationships
We may explore how you experience yourself in relationships, including your needs, boundaries and the expectations you have learned to carry.
Patterns and change
Together, we can consider the history and meaning of recurring responses, and whether there are other ways you would like to meet difficult moments.
What to expect.
The first sessions offer time to get to know one another and understand what brings you to therapy. You can ask questions, speak about your hopes or reservations, and discuss a focus for the work. Your therapist will explain confidentiality, its limits and the practical arrangements.
The length and pace of therapy vary. You and your therapist can review what is helpful and adjust your goals as you go.
You can ask questions before deciding.
A free 15-minute consultation is an opportunity to ask about the approach, discuss your concerns briefly and consider whether you would feel comfortable beginning.
Individual therapy is $215 per 50-minute session. In-person sessions are offered at 428 Gilmour Street in Ottawa. Online sessions are available across Ontario, subject to suitability and therapist availability.
