Now accepting interest for Spring 2027 practicum placements, beginning in May 2027.
Another Path Psychotherapy is looking to welcome two master’s-level practicum interns who are interested in growing their clinical skills within a supportive private practice setting.
Our internship program is designed for students who are ready to develop professionally, engage meaningfully with clients, and gain practical experience in the day-to-day work of psychotherapy.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking interns who are thoughtful, self-motivated, compassionate, and genuinely committed to the work of psychotherapy. Ideal candidates are open to feedback, eager to learn, and able to bring warmth, professionalism, and curiosity into the therapy room.
Strong candidates will demonstrate:
A sincere interest in client-centred, trauma-informed, and relational psychotherapy
Emotional maturity, empathy, authenticity, and self-reflection
Strong communication skills and professional reliability
The ability to work independently while also participating collaboratively in a team environment
Openness to supervision, feedback, and ongoing clinical growth
Respect for diverse identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences
A grounded interest in private practice and the realities of clinical work
Requirements
Applicants must be:
Enrolled in a master’s-level program in counselling psychology or a related field
Registered, or in the process of registering, with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
Able to attend sessions at our Centretown office
Able to provide online sessions when needed
Able to manage up to 10 hours of direct client contact per week
Flexible in availability to accommodate client scheduling needs
Committed to ethical, inclusive, and professional practice
Covered by professional liability insurance
Previous counselling or related experience is preferred.
About the Placement
Our internship program operates within a small, supportive team environment that encourages deep learning, clinical confidence, and professional growth.
The placement includes:
A comprehensive introduction to the operational aspects of private psychotherapy practice
Detailed training and onboarding before direct client work begins
Supervision, team consultation, and peer support
Exposure to a diverse range of client concerns, therapeutic approaches, and clinical interventions
Training and support using Jane App for scheduling, secure video sessions, client communication, and practice management
Administrative support to help interns focus on clinical learning and client care
Opportunities to develop both clinical skill and professional identity
